Engineering reality,
from first principles.
The physical world is complex. The tools we use to understand it should be open.
Axiom Process is an independent effort to build a modern, open process-simulation engine from first principles. Our aim is an inspectable, extensible scientific foundation for understanding how matter and energy move, interact, and transform.
We want every calculation to be open to scrutiny: explicit assumptions, traceable results, and reproducible methods. Numerical rigor means understanding how a solution was reached, where a model applies, and when a result cannot be trusted.
First, a dependable solver.
Then, a better way to work with it.
Technical foundations
The intended architecture
- Thermodynamics
- Compound properties, mixture models, phase equilibrium, and flash calculations.
- Process solving
- Material and energy balances across streams and connected unit operations, with recycle convergence and transparent numerical diagnostics.
- Independent kernel
- A headless TypeScript engine with testable scientific models, developed separately from its interface.
- Local execution
- A planned Electron + React desktop environment for macOS, Windows, and Linux, designed to support offline use.
The work ahead
Under development
The first objective is deliberately small: a verifiable flowsheet connecting a feed, heater, flash separation, and distillation.
- Feed
- Heater
- Flash separation
- Distillation
Planned validation will check physical consistency, conservation of matter and energy, and agreement with reference cases. Assumptions, limits, and convergence behavior should be visible alongside the results.
This project is under development. These are engineering goals and technical directions; they are not claims of implemented or validated capabilities. A dependable scientific foundation comes first.
